Friends with Benefits

            No Strings Attached is a typical romantic comedy starring actors Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. Kutcher plays a hopeless romantic that always ends up heartbroken. He is in search of a new beginning after finding out that his father recently started dating his longtime ex-girlfriend Vanessa played by Ophelia Lovibond. The torturous news leads him to get belligerently intoxicated and drunk dial every woman in his phone in order to pursue a one night stand. 

            He comes across Portman’s number and the call initiates there strict friends with benefits policy. After having a plethora of sexual intercourse things become complicated when both gain unexpected feelings for one another. An emotional split makes them realize the love that they comprise for one other. Overall the movie was predictable but out right hilarious. I have to say my $10 was worth the investment! 

Chili Cook Off

           Every year on Jan. 30 radio station WKIS and C.B. Smith Park host their annual Chili Cook Off. Although it is called Chili Cook Off this title doesn’t even exemplify all the events that take place. Competitors in the chili competition, country lovers, rednecks and alcoholics come from all over Florida just to experience this massive event every year. You don’t have to be fond of chili or enter in the competition to participate in this experience. People even go as far as not buying a ticket for entrance into the park. 

           For the multitude of juveniles the excitement begins in the early morning around 1am in the Wal-Mart parking lot. After gathering your flock the pre-gaming stage begins, in which you take your vehicle, beer, and friends and head out to the park grounds. You station your posy where ever you can find a spot close to one another. Then the drinking begins and probably won’t end until the late afternoon.

          Most people go inside to enjoy the music, food, and beer and others just enjoy themselves on the outskirts of the concert. Initially you can hear the artists performing either way. So if you wear Red Head, drive a truck, shop at Wal-Mart, say hey ya’ll and yee-haw, and keep your Christmas lights on all year long, then Chili Cook Off is right up your alley. 

There's More Fish in the Sea

        Taylor Swift is on the market once again! It seems like her luck with men is dwindling to an all time low. She has been with three guys in the past year and each previous relationship has lasted a minimum of 2 weeks. 

        The most recent liaison with Swift was with 31 year old American actor Jake Gyllenhaal. He is adorable in appearance but way out of her age range. Gyllenhaal is nearly 10 years older than Swift. They say love is blind but I believe Swift should stick to guys who are closer in age.           

         Personally all of her many break ups make her seem like a push over. That’s unfortunate because she appears to be a kind individual. But I guess guys really do need that bitter sweet spark in a women’s personality! I couldn’t help but notice that Swift writes each of her songs evidently about the hardships in previous relationships. Look out for a new coming about Gyllenhaal because I wouldn’t be surprised if it is in the making for her new album.

Soy vs. Paraffin

                                                           

          Candles are essential products burning in many households nationwide. However consumers that purchase these waxy materials don’t realize the similarities between soy and paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is a hydrocarbon that is from fossil fuels and, soy wax is a vegetable wax made from soy bean oil. 

        Although their ingredients are completely opposite the way they function is primarily the same. Rumor has that paraffin wax is detrimental to the environment because of the crude oil it is produce from and the black soot that is seen when lighting the wick. However soy wax also produces soot. 

        Soot aka carbon is known to be black but in soy candles it is produce as a white smoke that is hidden to the naked eye.  All organic compounds when burned will discharge carbon. So the truth is there is no such thing as a soot free candle! The only benefit a soy candle has over a paraffin candle is that soy is a natural resource that is recyclable and it burns longer. 
         In a sense it is more beneficial for the environment but in reality they are equally the same.  Next time you go to the super market the obligation to purchase a soy candle should be nonexistence. A paraffin based candle will work just as good!

Four Loko No Loko

        It is said to be equivalent to cocaine in a can with heavy blackouts and diarrhea as side effects. Four Loko is a beverage targeted to the youth primarily teens to young adults. Why is this product so successful to this young generation you may ask yourself? Well not only is easy to buy from local gas stations, but it’s also cheaper and contains a high percentage of alcohol, and caffeine.  

 Four Lokos come in a 16-ounce can price ranging from $2 to $3 each. If you ask me that’s more bang for your buck and more of a reason to purchase the substance. However, the FDA recently banned this product by making it illegal in many states nationwide. How is this caffeinated alcoholic beverage incompliant with the law?

        If Four Lokos are so intolerable then why are other caffeinated beverages still being sold such as, rum and cola and red bull and vodka? The point is, is that this “Toxic Potion” will make you very drunk, very fast, and for very cheap. Now that sounds like a drink worth trying!

      Just when we thought that reality television was at its peak. Guess again, rumor has it that the Housewives franchise is making its way to one of the hottest cities out. You guessed it Miami the sexiest place on Earth! Six new women and one additional drag queen I can already feel the tension. We love our million dollar Housewives to be trashy not classy! Can these six new women and drag queen meet the status quo of this well-renowned series? I predict more drama, more vengeance, and more betrayals. Count me in!!
